I'm a quarter of a century old

I can officially rent a car without a majorly high insurance rate guys! How exciting lol all my friends who are a few years older told me to live it up because I still have so much youth :P

I hope 25 is as great as 24 was. It's definitely weird to think just like that i'm another year older and wiser of course ;)

Anyways, I was explaining to my friends that birthdays are so strange because you don't really feel any different the day of, but as the time passes you're like WOAH i'm getting old. I remember when I was 18 I thought that by the time I was 25 i'd be married and getting ready to have a kid... HAHAH please laugh with me. I don't know what I was thinking! Funny how our minds work at that age and then now. I must say that i'm very proud of what I have accomplished thus far in my life, and I definitely am so excited to see where the next year takes me. My goals for age 25 are to go back to school, travel to 3 new places, take more time to myself, live in the moment more, and get a puppy (Danny you know what's up) . With the hustle and bustle of my busy work days I took some time to reflect over my birthday weekend that i'm definitely happy with life, but I think I need to focus more energy on things other than work. I have and probably always will be a workaholic, but I am trying my best to take more time to me.

If there is one thing I am discovering more and more about myself lately is that i'm a major old soul in so many ways, but that's a post for another time. To put it simply there is a quote that goes "Here's to the nights we won't remember, with the people we'll never forget", that was definitely my motto with my besties for a long time. However, I think i'm more in the phase of spending quality time with friends now, because honestly I don't get to see them as often as i'd like. So before I get too emotional and deep here is my birthday weekend recap....

Friday July 29th was my actual birthday and I took the whole weekend off so I slept in FINALLY. That was soo nice. I woke up and Danny made us breakfast, and then went to Pure Barre where I got to use the birthday ball haha if you know me I love my barre studio so that was a nice start to the weekend!

I got ready for the night afterwards and I am so excited to show you guys my outfit! I felt like a fashion blogger for a night which was fun, but also I commend you ladies who do it because it ain't easy to plan your outfit to a T, dress up, or get the perfect shot. It takes A LOT of work which is why you'll only see me fashion post every so often lol.

Moving on, I am so obsessed with this dress I got in my Stitch Fix box by Brixon Ivy. If you have no idea what Stitch Fix is, it's an amazing service that you should check out here and sign up using this link.

So, as for my outfit I drew some inspiration from some of my favorite fashion bloggers and went to my favorite park near Palo Alto, and did a mini photo shoot. I am definitely still learning how to do my photos and all but enjoy! I'll post links to my outfit details at the end as well :) I loved it though and thought it was definitely photo worthy lol

Dress was Stitch Fix by Brixon Ivy. There is technically no website to go and buy from Stitch Fix because it's a service but it's the Mistral Cold Shoulder if you want to try to find it somewhere

Shoes Louise et Cie Ghillie flat you can buy them here

Clutch was also Stitch Fix by Richard the Geo Print

Sunglasses are Ray-Ban clubmasters flash Lens. I got the ones with a slight Rose Gold tint and I LOVE them. Thanks to Danny! I think these are the same ones so just check here

I had so much fun shooting my first outfit for the blog, and I think every once in awhile i'll do it just for the heck of it because it's a part of me that I think would be fun to share. I pretty much live in my Nespresso uniform or yoga clothes but hey dressing up like this makes any girl feel like a queen and that should be seen.

After the photoshoot Danny and I headed up to San Francisco for dinner at Trestle's which was absolutely delicious! If you ever find yourself in the city go try it! It's a Prix Fixe menu every night, but the portions are perfect. I wish I had taken a photo of the menu for the night, but since we chose the option to each be served one of the two dishes from each course we didn't have it for long. I know I received the smoked salmon soup, risotto, braised short ribs with polenta, and dessert was some sort of huckleberry cake. All were so incredibly flavorful. My tummy was very happy at the end of the night.

The last photo is not my own. I took it from the Trestle's website, but I wanted you guys to see the inside since I didn't get a good shot. It's intimate and decorated simply which I really enjoyed.

The rest of the night we went to Pagan Idol & Raven a couple of spots in the city that are really fun with groups!

Saturday my friend Felicia was so sweet and hosted a last minute but bomb brunch at her place in SOMA. It was delicious and nice to just chill the next morning, which is basically what we all did for the day haha. Eventually Danny and I made the trek back down to Palo Alto to get ready for ADELE!!! We stopped by Hukilau (another delicious restaurant in San Jose) to hang out with Vanessa for a bit before heading to the concert. Adele was probably the highlight of my weekend to be honest, her voice is incredible and so moving. I have videos on my instagram (shaylenelissette) which you can check out but this is the best photo I was able to get from the night. If you ever are in a city where she is performing nearby go see her! She's got that once in a lifetime voice.

Sunday was a major foodie day for me because we did a group brunch at Marlowe in SOMA, went home to take a long nap, and then went to Din Tai Fung at Valley Fair mall for dinner. I fail at taking photos for the blog (working on that) so I have no proof of the delicious food we ate, but follow me on snapchat (shaylene09) so you can see my adventures lol I promise it all happened. Both places are definitely a must eat at if you are ever in the Bay!

My birthday weekend was spent well and in good company! Thank you to anyone who sent me a birthday wish, I am so thankful for all the people in my life, and cheers to many more birthday weekends to come :D

Thanks for reading along.

XoXo,
Shay
