Seattle trip!
Okay so I have been trying to do my best to get my posts up ASAP, & I promise if you're reading along I will get better about this! :)
Anyways...Earlier this month I went to Seattle and it was by far one of the most chill but fun experiences I have had on a vacation in awhile. It's such a weird city, but awesome! We were there for 3 and 1/2 days and did A LOT.
Day 1:
Danny and I got there before our friends Ellyn and Adam so we checked into the hotel grabbed some food in the public market and walked around the area afterwards. My first thoughts of the city was my gosh the seafood looks bomb and the flowers are SO cheap! Honestly I wish I could have brought a few bouquets home, they were so pretty and perfect for decorating. Eventually we went back to the hotel to freshen up and then went to have dinner at this pizza joint in what they cal BelTown called Rocco's. Super tasty and flavorful! They have some interesting slices and the menu is always changing so you'll rarely see the same pizza twice which I thought was cool. Afterwards we went to this bar called Clever Bottle which had a funky little vibe to it, and delicious cocktails. I got their version of a strawberry field but with tequila. It was strong haha but I liked it and I highly recommend checking that place out if you're ever in the area.
Around 9ish or so Ellyn and Adam finally got into town so we champagne toasted to the weekend and their engagement and off to an underground speak easyish bar we went! The place is called Bathtub Gin & Co. and it was a really cool experience because you are held at the door and it sort of feels like this secret little place and then finally get seated. It's very cozy and intimate on the inside with limited space, a simple menu, and cocktail mixologist. I'm not a huge gin drinker so the drinks for me were good, but not necessarily for me. Definitely recommend if you enjoy gin though or at least for the experience. I wish I took pictures :( so just look the place up! Sorry. Failed hard on that part.
Day 2:
NATIONAL DONUT DAY!! Need I say more? Jk. ;) Anyways we woke up surprisingly early around 8 A.M., Adam got us donuts and coffee to start the day as we got ready and then we headed out to the Chihuly glass garden. If you aren't familiar, it's an exhibition by Dale Chihuly who is famous for his hand blown glass sculptures and art work. It's been around since 2012 and a major touristy spot in the Seattle area now, but it's really amazing the work he did and if you want to connect with your inner artist self check it out! It's not too pricey and worth it in my opinion. These are some photos I go while in the exhibit...
We then spot hopped throughout the public market area and got some savory and sweet breads from piroshky piroshky a very popular spot in the market, mac and cheese from Beecher's, and then some blood orange ginger beer from Rachel's. All of them are some key spots to check out as a local and as a tourist. I should have taken more photos of the food but I fail again haha. This is the ginger beet spot though... they had the cutest copper mugs.

At this point we had indulged in a lot of different foods so we walked off our very full bellies around the gum wall area which was both gross and just odd. As to why it's a fascination makes me wonder haha but hey it was a must see I guess while in Seattle so we did, and just roamed the pier area which was nice for some fresh air. Next, we got coffee at Tully's which was absolutely delicious, and probably my favorite coffee joint we tried. After coffee and a quit pit stop by the hotel we headed to the Fremont area and took a much needed infamous photo with the Fremont troll :P Went to dinner at this tasty sushi restaurant called Umi Sake house and the salmon sampler was definitely my favorite! Since we didn't have dessert at Umi we went to Cupcake Royale and got more coffee + cupcakes! AH- so yummy! Dessert is the best thing ever. We ended our night at this roof top bar called Frolik which had some nice views and good music. Me and Ellyn mostly people watched haha but it was a good time nonetheless!
Day 3:
It was another early day and we started with brunch at Etta's. Oh my gosh this place was sooo good for a random little spot. Definitely another great food experience and a must go to if ever in the area! Honestly if you want to see my food photos follow me on snap (shaylene09) because that's all I do when I am traveling haha and fail to save those photos >.< After fooding we went to the Pioneer square area and did the Seattle Underground tour which is basically a ton of grid made tunnels that people way back had established businesses and what not. We got learn-ed on Seattle's history and found out the start of the city was a mess haha. It's a cool little tour to do just cause and all in all we enjoyed it then headed to Capitol Hill area which is very similar to the Castro Valley area of SF or West Hollywood in LA. It was also probably the coolest area we hung out in. Had lots of random shops, restaurants, and parks to chill at.
Our first stop in Capitol Hill was the Starbucks Roastery and Reserve. Being I work at Nespresso I am obsessed with any fancy coffee place I can go to lol & it definitely did not disappoint. It's beautiful inside, totally nothing like the starbucks stores, and was a wonderful experience. We ordered coffee flights to split to try the 3 different roasts they were specializing in, and of course got some pastry desserts :D
The rest of our day consisted of more fooding, drinks, and just hanging out in the area. We ended the day sorta early since we had to pack up and leave the next day, but it was time spent well. Day 4 wasn't too much either because we only had time to do a quick brunch and then had to head to the airport sadly. All in all, I loved the trip, the coffee, and the food was phenomenal. I will definitely be back Seattle, until next time!
